—Sold new in the United States in 1961, this Bentley S2 Countryman was commissioned by a prominent American family for whom a standard Bentley simply wasn't enough. From the outset, the car was entrusted by the factory to the workshops of Harold Radford, the English coachbuilder favored by the wealthy and influential figures of the era, to receive specific equipment designed to enhance comfort and everyday usability.

This configuration notably included the split-folding rear seats, characteristic of the Countryman version, offering a level of versatility rarely seen in a Bentley of this period. The charming Rotoflare taillight was also among the optional equipment requested at the time of order. This transformation is confirmed by a copy of the Bentley factory records, explicitly mentioning an S2 Countryman by Radford.

In 1961, owning a Bentley was already reserved for an elite few. Having Radford personalize the car placed its owner in an even more exclusive circle. The result is a uniquely configured, bespoke automobile that is now quite rare.

Meticulously maintained and recently serviced, this Bentley can be driven and enjoyed as it always has been. Its presence and poise are every bit as impressive as modern Bentleys, produced on a much larger scale.
